From the “minor updates” department we bring you something just interesting enough to keep you awake. futureme.org is a program that lets you write an e-mail to your self that won’t be sent until a specified date. That’s kind of neat in and of itself but there’s more. A lot of people decide to make their note public and anonymous so anyone can go through and look at the public emails.
Depth and Impressions
Some e-mails are really simple like “Hey, you’re still a live! Go us!” while others are long love notes detailing how much they care about someone, or asking if their future self has ever gotten over someone. It’s interesting because it’s like a tiny snapshot into another person’s life, a total stranger that you will never encounter except through this tiny dimension.
Lots of entries just talk about what is going on in the life of the person at the time of writing. Like a small time capsule/snapshot that “future selves” can take in and evaluate changes.
It’s “worth note” because it’s an cool idea that anyone can do in seconds./p>
UPDATE
Futureme.org has one single function, to send an e-mail on a specific date. I tested it when I wrote this article and it was supposed to send me an email two weeks ago. Alas, it never came! The one thing the site was supposed to do didn’t work!
