Every year millions of people make the decision that they want to visit what lies beneath the surface of the water up close and personal. When they make this decision, most of them will go snorkeling. When you go snorkeling you wear swimfins, a diving mask, a snorkel, and if the water is cool a wet suit.

If you go snorkeling it allows you the opportunity to be able to observe underwater life in its natural setting. While snorkeling you will be able to observe fish, coral reefs, mollusks, and sea urchins just to name a few of the wonders that await you under the water.

While snorkeling requires no special training it is important to discuss safety with the employees of the dive shop where you get your snorkeling equipment from. The instructions from the dive shop will cover how to use the equipment, underwater safety, as well as how not to damage coral reefs while you are snorkeling. A great idea when snorkeling is to have a tour guide with you. The tour guide will be able to point you in the direction of the best area to enhance your snorkeling experience. The tour guide will also be trained in case there are any types of emergencies.

While it is possible to go snorkeling in any body of water, the best locations are warm, have minimal waves, and are interesting close to the surface of the water. If you decide to try snorkeling do not forget to get a waterproof camera so you can treasure the memories you have made for a lifetime.
