Health insurance used to be an option, not a must-have. I know people who thirty or forty years ago were happy enough not to have any California health insurance at all and just paid for medical expenses as they came, usually on a monthly payment plan. These people are obviously older, grandparent types now, and are shocked at how much medical bills cost these days.

The question of California health Insurance is a huge factor now in many of life’s major decisions. My husband and I have been married for a couple of years now and we’ve decided that we want to start a family, but regardless of how ready we were to start planning the nursery and picking out baby names, it was all on pause until we could find the right health insurance to cover maternity care.

Another major decision I had to make that was strongly influenced by considerations of California health insurance was my job. After graduating from college I was excited and ready to start a career, but after reviewing my options, I decided to accept a position in a lower paying job than I had anticipated because it offered excellent California health insurance benefits.

Luckily, I like my job and combined with my husband’s income we pay the bills and put a bit in savings as well, but because of the excellent benefits package including health, dental, and life insurance, I would feel pressure to keep my job whether I liked it or not.

Finding good and comprehensive California health insurance is so important because you can’t count on being healthy forever, and overwhelming medical bills is one of the number one reasons people default on their mortgages and lose their homes. If you don’t have health insurance through your employment, find a good provider. It’s so much better to be safe than sorry.
