Good leaders need to develop a lot of skills to be effective. In addition to managing resources and their time well, a leader should be a good teacher, communicator, worker and example. Asking company executives to accomplish all this can seem like a tall order at times, but you can help them improve faster by investing in a little executive leadership training.
Leadership training is often conducted by knowledgeable and motivational teachers who can illustrate ways for individuals and companies to improve the way they work. If you haven’t found a good seminar yet, books and round-table discussions are also good ways for leaders to learn and improve. In addition to supplementing useful skills like communication and management, executive leadership training can do a lot of a leader’s confidence. The more prepared they are, they better they will be able to teach employees around them. Consequently, a good course in executive leadership for one person can end up benefitting several layers of the company.
In spite of possible improvement, I would still recommend looking for existing leadership skills in employees before they even become a part of the company. Check references, portfolios, education and experience for clues on their leadership capacity.
