Health insurance used to be an option, not a must-have. I know people who thirty or forty years ago were happy enough not to have any California health insurance at all and just paid for medical expenses as they came, usually on a monthly payment plan. These people are obviously older, grandparent types now, and are shocked at how much medical bills cost these days.

The question of California health Insurance is a huge factor now in many of life’s major decisions. My husband and I have been married for a couple of years now and we’ve decided that we want to start a family, but regardless of how ready we were to start planning the nursery and picking out baby names, it was all on pause until we could find the right health insurance to cover maternity care.

My brother recently moved to Hawai’i, where he took an impulse job helping a couple restore a 19th century Japanese pirate ship. I thought this would be a really cool job, and so did he… until he found out that his responsibility was to strap on some snorkeling gear and clean the barnacles off the hull of the old wooden boat.

He, of course thought that his job would be more of a restoration role - perhaps helping to replace broken or rotting beams, and helping to restore the visible part of the boat back to its original glory. However, he spent much of his time strapped to snorkeling gear with hatchet in hand, shucking off barnacles a few at a time.

Growing up my brother and I always spent our summers at my Grandmother’s house. She was a great cook and we loved to spend time with her, but mainly we loved it because Grandma had a swimming pool. My brother’s birthday is in early summer and because we spent so much time in the pool he usually got pool toys as birthday presents.

One year my brother got snorkeling equipment for his birthday. We had had all kinds of floatation devises to play with and water guns, but never snorkeling equipment. We were more than excited to try it out; we were convinced that with snorkeling equipment we would be professionals when we snuck up on my cousins for surprise attacks.

Jake and I spent our honeymoon in southern Thailand. During that trip, I enjoyed my first exposure to tropical waters and the wonders of snorkeling. The water was so clear that I could see the ocean floor several feet below where I could touch. The fish were much brighter than the coral, but everything was fun to explore.

On our short trip to Phi Phi Island, it was easier for us to rent equipment than bring it with us, but I imagine that local residents would benefit from buying their own snorkeling gear. If you are just starting your collection, the basics you should purchase include goggles, a snorkel, some fins and a life jacket.

In an ideal working environment, employers genuinely care about their workers and help them reach their highest potential. In return, workers put forth their best efforts and demonstrate loyalty to their employer. Unfortunately, we do not live in an ideal world and this scenario doesn’t always exist.

To safeguard the interests of both employers and workers, most businesses are required to carry insurance. That way, when property or people are damaged, there is already a way to compensate for it. Unfortunately, getting an employer or an insurance agency to pay up is sometimes a difficult task. That’s why a lot of people call a Pennsylvania workers compensation lawyer for assistance when they get injured on the job.

Instead of the murky, dark blue water you find in colder northern waters, these places are graced with sparkling seas that are clear enough for your eyes to see the ocean floor. With a mask, a life jacket and some fins you can watch colorful fish swim lazily among coral of all different shapes and sizes with flashes of bright blue, yellow, orange and purple reflecting off their scales.

As the largest city in the U.S., New York is plumb-full of a million things to see and do. Even though you can barely walk a couple blocks without running into famous neighborhoods, landmarks and museums, most people still tackle the task of exploring the city with a tour book in hand. Unfortunately, a lot of tour books only explain how to get to popular spots; not what you should do when you arrive.

For a more interactive approach to the city, you might want to consider showing up for a Watson Adventures Scavenger hunt. In small teams, you can explore places like Central Park, Times Square, Museums, the Zoo and Grand Central Station by following clues. With someone guiding you through each attraction, you will learn more things than any tour book will teach and have fun during the process.

Washington D.C. is a beautiful city - especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms bloom. Aside from the zoo, the Whitehouse, the theaters and the museums, I would visit the city just to wander around all of the monuments. As you can see, history, art and music abound and the stage is set for some of the cleverest scavenger hunts you can image.

But why would you want a scavenger hunt? First of all, even the most amazing museums and attractions can get boring if you don’t have something keeping you on-task. And secondly, they can be a great way to build morale and team work in your school, company or organization. With a Watson adventure scavenger hunt, your team will find itself constantly searching for answers, problem solving and laughing.

In fact, Watson Adventure scavenger hunts have been so successful at team building in Washington and other major cities that they have been acclaimed by the Washington Post and the New York Times. A scavenger hunt is a good way to build teams because they require several individuals to work together and everyone can contribute something valuable. They are also activities that don’t require exceptional athletic skills.

If you can get your employees or students to play together, they will be much more likely to communicate and work with each other when they return to an office environment. Develop the skills you want in a setting they’ll enjoy and increase their loyalty to you in the process. Whether you are visiting the city or working inside of its boundaries, you can accomplish all this and more just by signing up for a Watson Adventures scavenger hunt.
